Laurie Calkhoven

Laurie Calkhoven – Ghostwriter

Children's writer and editor with experience in the publishing world and as a freelance ghostwriter, book coach, and editor.

Overview

I spent 20 years working in children's publishing, including time spent at Scholastic. Since leaving the land of Clifford the Big Red Dog 15 years ago, I have created more than 50 books for children. My titles range from beginning readers through young adult. My sweet spot is middle grade (ages 8-12) and chapter books (ages 7-10).
My inner 10-year-old is the author of the ROOSEVELT BANKS novels (Red Chair Press/Lerner), the BOYS OF WARTIME series (Penguin), and middle grade fantasies, and mysteries as a ghost writer for major publishers. I’ve also penned six novels for American Girl and many works of nonfiction.

I love writing for this audience, and I love working with authors to help them develop their ideas into stories. If you want to delight children with your story ideas, I can help you.
