Overview
I am an editorial professional with years of experience working at traditional publishing houses. During my time in publishing, I’ve read a lot of books and made a lot of edits! I have worked on over 50 titles in a range of categories like cookbooks, memoirs, biographies, gardening books, professional and academic titles, historical fiction, and more. I’ve moved up the ranks from the entry-level role of editorial assistant up to the decision-making acquisitions editor, all the while, learning what makes a good book. In fact, not just a good book, but a great book! And what makes a great book? Thoughtful, conscious, and consistent writing.
Every writer has the potential to convey their message or story through words, but sometimes, they need a little help. That’s where I come in. From start to finish, let me help with the editorial process. My services include query letter review, editorial assessment, developmental editing, and proofreading.
Aside from working as an editor, I live in Miami, Florida, with one cat, one dog, and a lot of books. I love reading fantasy novels but also enjoy a great romance book and a good thriller, and enjoy reading weekly manga and manga volumes. Some of my favorite authors are T.S. Gibson, Octavia E. Butler, Louise Erdrich, Mò Xiāng Tóng Xiù, Dana Schwartz, Wataru Nadatani, Sarah Hawley, Ali Hazelwood, and Holly Black. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a good classic (yes, I own two copies of "Jane Eyre", and no, I do not need only one copy)!
I’m looking to take on new clients and transform incredible stories and ideas into completed literature. Feel free to look through past Projects I’ve worked on in varying capacities and reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks for stopping by!

Work experience
Self-employed
I provide freelance editorial services remotely, specializing in assessment, coaching, developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading for various writing types. My goal is to collaborate with clients to enhance the quality and clarity of their writing, ensuring a polished final product that meets their needs and expectations.
Fox Chapel Publishing
During my time in this role, I signed new, revised, and updated titles in home and garden, pets, cooking, and miscellaneous categories for various
imprints of Fox Chapel Publishing. I worked on the projects from inception to publication, focusing heavily on the pre-production proposal review developmental editing of the material.
Pineapple Press
While in this acquisitions position, I curated and maintained the imprints of Pineapple Press and TwoDot Books for Globe Pequot, the trade division of the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, Inc. I worked on seeking out authors and helping them cultivate their proposed ideas to then helping them develop the work into a published book.
SAGE Publishing
In an elevated version of my introductory publishing role, I was a team lead for newer Editorial Assistants and helped head the pre-production process of texts and ancillary material, starting with author communication and preparation.
SAGE Publishing
In my introductory full-time role to book editing and publishing, I learned a great deal by working closely with social science authors and acquisitions editors. I learned the basics of developmental editing and what criteria should be applied when assessing proposals, query letters, and new ideas.
