Lauren Hooker

Lauren Hooker – Editor

Developmental Editor/Copy Editor of Nobel Prize winners and NYT/Amazon bestsellers | 8+ years' experience in trade publishing

Overview

I'm an experienced editor and copy editor with a background in indie publishing (Seven Stories Press). The genres I work with most are literary fiction, memoirs, political nonfiction, and children's/YA, but I also love working on books that don't slot neatly into one genre. I've copyedited autofiction by Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux; I've edited memoirs by doctors and ballerinas, histories for young readers that are taught in classes across the country, and novels in translation from Romania and Italy. My goal is always to preserve the author's voice as much as possible and work with the author to make a book the best version of itself it can be. I'm also a published author, so I know what it's like to be on the other side.
