Laura Mattingly

Laura Mattingly – Editor

Experienced book editor specializing in lifestyle, self-help, inspiration, health, wellness, creative business, and women's interest.

Overview

I've acquired, developed, and edited over one hundred books, including numerous national and New York Times bestsellers. Through my work at Hyperion Books, Random House, HarperCollins, and most recently as a senior editor at Chronicle Books, I've had the opportunity to help all types of creatives and writers bring their visions to printed reality. I value close collaboration throughout the editorial process and specialize in helping authors develop books from the first spark of an idea to a final manuscript.

Laura Lee is a dream! She improved my book by leaps and bounds as a developmental editor. She held space for my voice to shine through but helped me polish everything into something I'm really proud of. I dare say she made me a better writer in the process. Her feedback was both wide-ranging and also incredibly thorough and detailed. She was a great sounding board for fleshing out ideas for the...

This was my first time working with an editor and I didn't know what to expect or how to communicate what I was looking for. Laura Lee provided a very clear proposal and made the decision easy.
