Kevin C. Neece

Kevin C. Neece – Editor

I work in non-fiction and fiction, but I specialize in broad-minded Christian non-fiction, particularly engaging the arts and pop culture.

Overview

Though I enjoy editing a variety of genres, I'm probably most at home in Christian non-fiction--most particularly Christian non-fiction that is intellectual, academic, justice-oriented, or ecumenical.

I'm drawn to theology, philosophy, and culture, as well as works encompassing contemplative spirituality. And if you're doing anything that engages the arts, media, or pop culture from a philosophical, theological, or Christian worldview perspective, I'm definitely interested. But as I said, I'm open to variety, including fiction.

I'm the author of The Gospel According to Star Trek: The Original Crew (Cascade Books). I served as a contributing editor for Imaginatio et Ratio: A Journal of Theology and the Arts and am the editor or co-editor of several works of fiction and non-fiction, both academic and popular.

My writing has appeared in a number of books and periodicals, including Light Shining in a Dark Place: Discovering Theology Through Film, New Identity Magazine, and Patheos, among others. A former professor, I hold a BAS in Communication and Philosophy and an MLA in Fine Arts. I live with my wife and son in Texas.

“I was greatly amazed by Kevin’s careful attention to detail. The manuscript came back to me with multiple notes on how it could be made stronger . . . In the publishing industry, often editors can miss minute details which can cause the story to stumble. I am delighted to say, I did not experience this with Mr. Neece’s work. He was very thorough and dedicated to doing his best work from the moment he received the manuscript . . . I would recommend him to anyone seeking an editor.”

I fell that Kevin did and exceptional job, considering the subject matter required knowledge in the discipline. He provided insight and fact checking that was unexpected but appreciated. Kevin also communicated in advance his challenge with meeting the expected time line, because of an unexpected tasking, and asked for my approval. Which shows professionalism and consideration for the client.
