Katie Wilson – Designer

Hi! I am an illustrator and designer based in beautiful New Zealand. Creating for adults and children, my illustrations are simple, sweet, whimsical and cheerful with a handmade feel. My work is made using a combination of watercolour, gouache and mixed media, with a little bit of digital thrown in too. I absolutely love illustrating picture books about animals and nature, and how people interact with the natural world around us.

My favourite projects are ones that have an element of research involved, whether it be discovering the fashions of a particular era or learning the shapes, colours and textures of particular plants or animals. Working together with clients to create something we can both be proud of is one of the best parts of my job and I love seeing the finished product out there in the world!

My work has been published in children's books, magazines and greeting cards, and selected clients include Hallmark, Papyrus, Quarto, Scholastic and New Frontier Publishing.
