Katie G. – Editor

Dedicated proofreader with 8 years of experience at Harlequin/HarperCollins. I've worked on fantasy, mystery, suspense, YA, and more!

Overview

I'm a graduate of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism and English Literature. After a stint as a freelance reporter, it was affirmed for me that my true passion for storytelling lies in book publishing! With over seven years of experience as a proofreader and editorial assistant for Harlequin HarperCollins, I've honed my skills in proofreading and writing back cover copy.

I love helping authors polish stories and convey messages that mean so much to them. I'm organized with a keen attention to detail, a love for publishing and solid work experience. Authors I've worked with say they love my thoroughness, insights, and my understanding of their vision and voice. I'm proficient with The Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster's dictionary and Oxford dictionary. I've worked on a wide variety of genres, including YA, mystery, suspense/thriller, paranormal, fantasy and contemporary fiction.

I'm excited to help you with your next project! Contact me and tell me about it, and we can go from there. I look forward to hearing from you.

TESTIMONIALS:

"Katie provided her special skill set but it was her kindness and insight that I found to be a special character trait. I am happy to say I learned a lot by working with her. Work was completed in a timely manner [and] her editorial assessment was both concise and in-depth. I look forward to working with her again."
— Timothy Hawkins, author of Feeding the Beast

"Working with Katie on my ebook was a very positive experience. She was caring, professional and thorough in her work. She gave me suggestions to improve the quality of my book, while still respecting my creative autonomy. I would highly recommend her services to my friends and colleagues."
— Meaghan Gowrie, author of Write Your Damn Song

Katie was just amazing. She did such a great job proofreading my manuscript. She has an unbelievable eye for detail and caught things several other people didn't. She was professional and helpful and even hurried to deliver ahead of schedule to make sure I met my deadline. It was a true pleasure to work with her, and I would hire her again in a heartbeat.
