Overview
I have a BA in English and experience in line editing/proofreading both fiction and nonfiction of various lengths. I have edited all types of genres, but the ones I enjoy working on the most are romance (preferably closed-door), fantasy, and young adult.
Last year, I edited 23 books, two of which immediately made the top 100 on Kindle's list (one even cracked the top 3). I book up to a year in advance, so new projects I've worked on are coming out all the time.
I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and have taken courses with them and CIEP.
I prefer to do per-word projects to hourly, and here is what I offer for items over 20,000 words:
*Line editing/copyediting combo: Correcting errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and continuity, revisions/rewriting at the sentence level, light fact-checking
*Copyediting: Correcting errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and continuity
*Proofreading: Checking a copyedited manuscript for the last pesky typos and any grammar, punctuation, and continuity errors the copyeditor missed
Things I will not be responsible for:
*Heavy fact-checking (historical, geographical, highly technical, Biblical, etc.), formatting, flow, heavy revisions/rewriting at the paragraph/chapter level, character/plot development, or opinions
My editing contract includes 3 passes of the document (2 initial, 1 follow-up) with track changes enabled in Word so that you maintain control of your product and there is full transparency.
If the project is under 20,000, I charge a fixed price of $350 for line/copyediting OR proofreading.

"From the first email exchange, I could tell that working with Holly would be a good experience. The contract was straightforward, and all expectations were laid out clearly. She delivered a thoroughly edited manuscript while still maintaining an author’s unique voice. Two things that surprised me after my experience were that she taught me so much, and she was engaging, even through email exchanges. Hiring her to edit my manuscript freed up time for me to write other things, which was instrumental in decreasing my mental stress. I can only hope she will be available every time I release a novel because I would not hesitate to have her work on all my future manuscripts. Thank you again, Holly! It was my pleasure to work with you!"
