Editorial duties include copy and line editing manuscripts for clients including Amazon Publishing, Mascot Books, independent authors, International Greetings, and various academic and business publishers; manuscript material includes crime and thriller, self-help and spirituality, YA and science fiction, poetry chapbooks and collections, and historical and mainstream fiction.

Every project involves a compilation of detailed editorial comments and queries as well as a summation letter to the author that highlights central areas for further focus; comments must clearly communicate the grammatical principle behind revisions and effectively use style guide support to strengthen consistency within the text.

Performed developmental editing, copyediting, and academic editing services for an array of scholarly and technical content and for authors from various industries and backgrounds; authors included native and non-native English speakers from international universities and scientific research foundations.

Projects for review included scientific and medical journal submissions, academic manuscripts (STEM-focused articles as well as material covering specific topics within the humanities and social sciences), and postgraduate theses and dissertations.

Was responsible for returning each project within an established timeline and for crafting feedback that was appropriate for and tailored to the material and author; evaluated and revised/rewrote text and citations to conform to various style guides and journal formatting specifications.

Worked within the creative department of an international consulting company to publish compelling, accurate, and finely tuned research material and reports, compilation and interpretation of survey results and data, marketing collateral, and informative summaries for C-level executives.

Coached researchers and writers on maintaining company style and voice, upholding grammatically sound text, and instilling simplicity and clarity in their writing.

Exercised different levels of editorial services, including basic but rigorous copyediting, line-level editing, proofreading, and in-depth substantive revisions; was relied upon to produce error-free content through multiple reviews and editing cycles.

Met with researchers, both in person and via telephone for international authors, to discuss edits made to manuscript-length publications that received the highest level of review.

Managed project timelines and deadlines (for both the daily work queue as well as larger, more time-intensive projects) with internal clients and the design team to ensure a punctual turnaround.

Took initiative with many team-level and individual projects, such as one-on-one sessions with business writers and training new designers on Editorial’s role and responsibilities within the department; worked independently and closely with the team manager on specific high-profile projects, such as the investors’ Annual Report and the yearly/quarterly Executive Guidance.
