Overview
I started my career at Tuttle Publishing and have worked at several New York-based publishing houses, both full-time and freelance. My expertise covers a broad range of topics, including art, architecture, spirituality, psychology, sports, memoirs, and medical titles, among others.
My process is straightforward and transparent. Here's how it works:
1. If your manuscript is a good fit, I offer a free quote based on its condition
and the total word count. (I am happy to sign an NDA before reviewing your
manuscript, but I need to see it to provide an accurate quote.)
2. I’ll provide a one-page sample edit. If you’re satisfied with my work, I'll
send you a contract. My rates are $45/hour for copyediting and $30/hour for
proofreading. What’s the difference between copyediting and proofreading? If you’re unsure, you can refer to my website for more information.
3. I'll begin the editing process once you've signed the contract. Then, I may
call or email you with some global queries throughout the process. I'll send
you the entire edited manuscript on the agreed-upon due date. If I need more time, I will contact you in advance. I edit using Word, PDFs, Google Docs, and even pencil-to-paper, whatever works best for you.
After you've finished writing and polishing your work, put it down. Take a breath. Before submitting your manuscript to agents or publishers or self-publishing, let me handle the copyediting and proofreading to ensure it's in tip-top condition. Let me help you ensure your writing doesn’t get overlooked or relegated to the slush pile. Most errors are avoidable. I’m here to make the process easier for my clients.
I look forward to being your editor,
Kate
