I was an editor at an independent publisher for over three years. During my time with them, I edited numerous books in the specialty non-fiction genre, from raw manuscript to published book. I focused on editing the book's content as a whole as well as copyediting and proofreading.
Communication is important to me when working with authors. I like to get a general description of the author's expectations first. Then, after I've familiarized myself with the book's content, I compile a list of questions for the author. I feel that an open and honest working relationship is the key to creating the best book possible.
