Julie Breihan – Editor

I am a freelance editor who has been in the publishing business for over twenty-five years. I got my undergrad in elementary education at Texas A&M. I realized pretty quickly teaching eight-year-olds was not in my wheelhouse and went back to school to get my master's in English. Shortly afterward I began working as a freelance proofreader and editor. Over the years I have worked for multiple publishing houses and with many individual clients.I specialize in line editing, copy editing, and substantive editing, but I also do some proofing on the side. I work on lots of different genres, including novels (historical and contemporary), picture books, Christian living, humor, business, finance and business, politics, cookbooks. I really love it all, and I have found that working on a variety of genres and topics keeps me sharp and entertained, which makes work a pleasure and every new project an adventure.My passion is to work with authors to make their books the very best they can be and to make their voice and vision for their work come alive. It's no small thing to finally put pen to page and write the book you've always been dreaming of writing, and then it's even more stressful to turn your baby over to a stranger to take their red pen to it and critique it. It's a very vulnerable position to be in, and I consider it a privilege when someone entrusts their work to me.
