Overview

After nearly two decades of writing and editing corporate, technical, and non-profit materials, six years ago I turned my skills and experience toward publishing. Since then, I have worked with authors published by Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, Hachette, and Boyds Mills Press, and have also helped clients formulate their query and pitching strategy. In addition to my work as a Pitch Wars/Teen Pit mentor and a book coach with Author Accelerator, I offer freelance writing and editing services.

Do you struggle to get the words on the page to match to the stories in your mind? Are you frustrated by getting rejections with no real idea how to make your stories more appealing and marketable? Do you have trouble with elements of craft like structure, pacing, and character arc? Do you need the tough love and accountability of working with a coach while you write? If you answered yes to any of these questions, keep reading...

Since I first picked up THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE when I was in elementary school, I have been fascinated by story. Once sneaking into peoples' closets looking for Narnia was no longer acceptable, I turned to my own writing. Since graduating with an MS in Communication Management in 2001, I have written and edited for businesses, non-profits, and individuals across a variety of sectors from high tech to newspaper to publishing. My affiliations with SCBWI, AWP, and EFA, and my work with Pitch Wars, all keep my industry knowledge current and sharp. And my love of the written word translates into all that I do.

As a coach and editor, I will work with you on all aspects of your story from the concept, structure, POV, and voice all the way through line edits, polishing, and pitching. A detail-oriented, client-focused coach and editor, I can help you translate your ideas to the page in a way that makes your story sing.
