Jon Curzon

Jon Curzon – Editor

Literary agent at Artellus Ltd., handling fiction and non-fiction. Freelance editor, with experience at established literary consultancies.

Overview

Hello!

I'm Jon, a literary agent at Artellus Ltd., where I've been building a list since 2016, working on books all over the world, and of a broad variety; from literary debuts (Kyra Wilder's 'Little Bandaged Days' and Ashleigh Bell Pedersen's 'The Crocodile Bride') to history, politics, and science (Christopher Othen's 'The King of Nazi Paris' and Lukasz Bednarski's 'Lithium') and memoir (Emily Wells's 'A Matter of Appearance').

Books I've worked on have been published in the UK, US, Germany, France, India, the Netherlands, South Korea - and books I've represented and worked on have been reviewed and featured in The Guardian, The New York Times, The Telegraph, The Times, The TLS, and Channel 4 News.

In my time at Artellus, the agency has handled Booker-shortlisted novels (Fiona Mozley's 'Elmet') and Sunday Times bestseller non-fiction (Rebecca Wilson and 'What Mummy Makes').

In my role as a freelance editor, since 2015, I've developed a friendly and constructive style in working on development reports, editorial assessments, copy-edits, proof-reads, and query assessments. On Reedsy, I'm looking to share my industry knowledge and experience, together with my years of experience as an editor, in helping authors realise the full potential of their work.

*Please note that my work here is separate from my work as an agent*

Jon did a comprehensive review of my "pitch" document and I had high expectations given his professional background as an agent. He not only kept firmly to his brief and timetable, but actually produced his report ahead of time. His comments were thoughtful, to the point and extremely helpful. One of the challenges for me as an author writing very research heavy non-fiction, has been to ge...

Jon is one of the best editors I have worked with. Easy to work with, and very effective. I hired him for an editorial assessment and copyedit of my sample chapter. His attention to detail, with regards to identifying issues and offering insightful solutions, was second to none. But most of all, he truly understood the essence of my work — including plot structure, themes, characterisations, wr...
