Jennifer Fiedler

Jennifer Fiedler – Ghostwriter

I'm a writer, recipe developer, content specialist, friendly collaborator, and all-around cheerleader for top-tier food and lifestyle books.

Overview

I'm the author of The Essential Bar Book, which was featured in the New York Times and the Boston Globe. I have more than a decade of experience as an editor, writer, and researcher for a wide variety of publications. But I have heaps of hands-on experience too: tending vegetables on organic farms, crushing grapes at wineries, styling photo shoots, and whipping up meals in professional kitchens.

While I work primarily in food media, I've also helped create lifestyle books as well as consulted on creative direction and copywriting for brands. I've collaborated on several books (The Wine & Cheese Deck, Lei Aloha, and the Brooklyn Brew Shop's Beer Book) for which I've worn a variety of hats: writer and researcher, recipe development and editing, photo and prop stylist, and production management. I love every part of creating a book, from the "just thinking stage" to signing off on the final pages.

Testimonials: "Jennifer is an exceptional writer with extensive knowledge of wine and spirits. She dove head-first into our project, "The Wine & Cheese Board Deck," using her deep expertise to make complex wine and cheese pairing information both accessible and enjoyable for our audience. Working with her was a pleasure—she was incredibly easy to collaborate with and always timely. I would enthusiastically work with her again. Jennifer’s professionalism and teamwork make her a standout choice for any writing project." —Meg Quinn, @ainttooproudtomeg

“Jennifer is an absolutely gem to work with! We worked on a book together, and got a friendship out of it. She is professional, insightful and thoughtful. She has a keen way of observing and asking questions that feels natural and authentic, allowing her interviewees to speak and answer questions in an equally genuine way. Looking forward to working with her again soon!" —Tara Rock, @ladyslider

Work experience

Self-employed

Jan, 2011 — Present
I have written and co-written several food and lifestyle books, sheparding projects from idea stage to launch date. I've helped authors design book proposals, write drafts on deadline, conceptualize art and design, plan marketing, and celebrate the on-sale date.

Wine Spectator Magazine

Jan, 2007 — Jan, 2011 (about 4 years)
I wrote and edited articles for the largest wine magazine in the world, including a biweekly wine and food recipe pairing column. I managed a roster of freelance writers and collaborated with the art and editorial team from conceptual idea to finished layout to make the magazine.
