Jenni Ferrari-Adler – Editor

I am a long time literary agent, currently at Aevitas, and a non-practicing published writer of fiction and essays, with an MFA in Fiction.

Overview

I am an empathetic and experienced Literary Agent. People tell me A LOT that I am a straight shooter but I also take care to be gentle with my feedback. I have reviewed tens of thousands of query letters and submissions and can help get yours in best possible shape. I represent NY Times Bestsellers and Major Book Club Picks as well as independent and University Press titles. I have extensive editorial experience, it's a huge part of the work I do with clients, and it's grounded in my background as a writer with an MFA in Fiction from a top MFA program. I also taught Creative Writing at the University of Michigan and Gotham Writers Workshop and worked as a reader for The Paris Review snd as a bookseller at Housing Works. I edited the anthology ALONE IN THE KITCHEN WITH AN EGGPLANT: Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone which was published by Riverhead.

I have a deep sense of the marketplace but my approach is always grounded in making your work the best version of itself. I have been a Visiting Agent at places including: Breadloaf, Sewanee, The Loft, The New School MFA, NYU MFA, Brooklyn MFA, Vermont MFA, Michigan MFA, Sarah Lawrence MFA, SCBWI; Imagination Writers Conference, Tin House, Jewish Writers Conference, Grub Street, Story Studio, Light House Writers Workshop, Aspen Writers Foundation, Connecticut College, Chatham College, Slice Literary, One Story, San Miguel Writers Conference, and IACP.

Sep, 2025 — Present
I am a literary agent at Aevitas Creative Management. I represent a range of work including recent New York Times Bestsellers, and Book Club Picks by Reese Witherspoon, The Today Show’s Read With Jenna, Barnes & Noble, and Belletrist.

Union Literary

Nov, 2007 — Nov, 2023 (about 16 years)
I worked for many years at Union Literary building the agency’s cookbook list from scratch. I found, edited, developed, and sold a lot of inventive fabulous fiction including the NY Times Bestsellers THE HOUSE IN THE PINES, WHITE IVY, and THE VACATIONERS, and the short story “Cat Person” to the New Yorker. I've also worked at Verve Talent and Literary and have a working relationship with the TV and Film industry as well as with Foreign editors.

Jenni went above and beyond. Not only did she do a very thorough job editing and reviewing my query, but she allowed me to call her to speak in more detail about the content of my query. I was able to use the information to completely overhaul my query. I highly recommend Jenni for query reviews ...

I had a feeling that she didn’t give it her best effort, and she did the project with the least amount of work. Thus, her feedback was somewhat superficial and lacked in-depth insight.
