Overview
Your words are important -- important enough for you to spend seemingly endless hours getting those words typed up as you chain-drink whatever keeps you going, all while your friends and family wonder what in the world you're up to.
Now you've typed the very last word of your novel! Hope you took some time to celebrate, maybe with a big bowl of ice cream, a special dinner out, or a glass of your favorite happy-time drink.
So ... you did it. You wrote your novel, and you're eager to share it with the rest of the planet -- and you naturally want it to be the best that it can be before it gets into the hands of your readers. Enter the realm of editing and all the emotions that come with handing over your manuscript to someone else ...
As a fiction writer myself, I get the feelings that go along with letting someone else edit and polish all those words you've spent so much time and energy on, so I'm here for you as an editor who can relate. At this point in my career, I specialize in fiction copyediting and proofreading:
Copyediting -- Line-by-line and word-by-word editing for grammar, word usage, tone, format, mechanics of style, and consistency of facts, spelling, capitalization, and numerals. Also includes recommendations to author. Revisions made within Word document using tracking feature. Includes at least two rounds of editorial review (including final proofread).
Proofreading -- A final polish to clean up typos, inconsistencies, misspellings, and punctuation problems. Revisions made within Word document using tracking feature. Includes at least two rounds of editorial review.
Finally, some fast facts about me for you:
-- Editorial portfolio of nearly 300 published books by authors from around the globe
-- Master's degree focused on fiction writing
-- Familiarity with a variety of genres (see below)
Please feel free to drop me a line with any questions or if you're ready to start working together. Happy to dialogue with you and then provide a free editing sample if it sounds like we might be a good fit for each other as author and editor. Thanks for stopping by!
peace, love, and life to you ... jd : )
[CURRENT AVAILABILITY: I'M NOW BOOKING FOR LATE FEBRUARY 2025.]
***** PLEASE NOTE *****
I do not offer critiques/evaluations or developmental/substantive/content editing for fiction, and I do not work on nonfiction, nor do I work on partial manuscripts or parts of manuscripts. Because I specialize in copyediting/proofreading, it means the authors I work with are satisfied with their stories from a big-picture perspective and are not looking for thoughts on how to improve the story or make large-scale edits, but rather seeking an editor to smooth out, enhance, and polish the entire tale's text. So if you're happy with your overall story as it stands, then please feel free to drop me a request. Thank you kindly for your consideration of this note. : )
