Overview
I am an intuitive and enthusiastic editor with over 15 years' experience in the publishing industry. I have coached and edited for NYT, USA Today, Washington Post, and Amazon bestselling authors and I am a multi-published women's fiction author myself. My speciality is developmental editing: you already have the great idea--how do we make it WORK? Pacing, flow, structure, and a plot that catches the interest of industry professionals are my main focus. I'll also look for strong character development and luscious world building.
HISTORICAL AND WOMEN'S FICTION
My expertise is in working with historical fiction. As a masters student in history, I would love to support you in creating a rich historical world, especially books set in or containing elements of the ancient world (Greece, Rome, Mesopotamia, or Egypt), the European Middle Ages and Vikings, the Victorian period, or books containing mythology (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Norse, or Christian).
For women's fiction authors, I can support you in developing a rich emotional world and teasing out a plot that keeps the story moving.
WORKING WITH ME
I strongly believe in the art of giving kind and encouraging notes that won’t make authors feel overwhelmed or discouraged. One NYT bestselling client said:
"Seriously, you've given me the best notes EVER. Makes tons of sense, not overly nitpicky, or trying to retell the book the way you'd tell it. And it articulated everything I knew to be wrong with the book but couldn't pinpoint."
I am happy to work with manuscripts at any stage of the process, even if not complete. My process is highly collaborative so I understand your story and your intentions for the book, and I will not only provide suggestions for how to make this book better, but also how to improve your writing in general.
