Isobel Cowper-Coles – Editor

I specialise in editing academic books, from the conception of an idea through to perfecting the full manuscript for publication. My core area is the humanities and social sciences, including philosophy, literary studies, sociology, and science and technology studies (STS). I have in-depth experience of working on inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary books, ensuring that they are balanced and compelling to readers from different disciplinary backgrounds.

I care deeply about each project that I work on. I provide as much or as little input as I feel is needed and am always guided by the author in my suggestions. I help authors at the beginning of the process to shape and structure their proposal, through to assisting during the writing stage and editing the final manuscript.

My career began at Cambridge University Press before I moved to a young, interdisciplinary publisher, Rowman & Littlefield International, to start my own list commissioning Philosophy books. I quickly built up a reputation as an empathetic, reliable editor with a strong instinct for what works.
