Writer, Editor, and Podcaster. Here for all copyediting and proofreading needs, especially for children's and YA books and graphic novels.
When it comes to my interests, I’ve always been one to lean toward the compulsive side. Whether it be slowly learning Korean during the pandemic to be able to write about the K-pop industry with more context or turning my love of Degrassi: The Next Generation into a weekly podcast, I’ve managed to parlay my attention to detail into a career filled with micro-detailed editorial calendars and the ability to scrap said calendars with Plans B through Z when inevitable surprises come to the fore. After working in the print and digital media landscape for the past five years, I’ve been able to use my meticulous passion to create magazines, books, podcasts and stories, each a labor of love and obsession in their own way.
For the past six years in New York City publishing, I've developed my skills in copyediting and proofreading for a number of mediums, including magazines, novels, graphic novels, and novelty items. I also have a keen eye for art consistency, with my background in graphic novel and picture book editing at Scholastic.
Production editor for Graphix, Branches and Acorn imprints. Scholastic Graphix publishes creator-driven graphic novels appropriate for children and teens. Scholastic Branches publishes books specifically designed for newly independent readers who are ready to make the leap from leveled readers, but not quite prepared for a traditional chapter book. Scholastic Acorn, an offshoot of Branches, publishes books aimed at children ages four to seven who are just beginning to read.
My duties include: working with editors and designers of Graphix, Branches and Acorn titles to ensure all projects are completed efficiently and on time; assigning work to freelance proofreaders; updating and monitoring the internal production management system to track each project's progress; overseeing the proofreading and copy editing of each title throughout the production process; working with the manufacturing team to ensure all book schedules are running on time
Topix Media Lab is a mass-market consumer magazine publishing company that produces single-topic magazines as well as books. My duties included: creating production schedules for all book and magazine projects; managing the production for all book and magazine projects; acting as a liaison between Topix and Macmillan, the company's book distributor; working with clients with approvals and deadlines; preparing files for book and magazine projects; editing all copy multiple times throughout the production process for grammar, style, flow and consistency; proofing finalized pages in InDesign; PDFing final pages for client approval.
