Overview
My professional career as an editor spans 15 years. It includes working with over ten publishing houses (three in-house), as well as collaborating with independent authors and students to polish their written work.
A good knowledge base in my specialist genres of theology, Bible study notes, missional biography and Christian fiction complements my in-house background as a senior production editor in medical and academic publishing for Blackwell Science.
I aim to work with authors, to provide supportive suggestions and edits, and together to produce a quality publication. In addition to polishing the brief at sentence level (grammatical errors, internal inconsistencies, use of sensitive/non-inclusive terms, punctuation and errors in style-conformity), I follow the development of the publication's message, comment on any variation in the author's voice, and provide checks on any Bible references and external genre-specific cross-references. These edits are only ever suggestions, and can be accepted or rejected accordingly.
My overall aim is to preserve the author's voice and message, and to collaborate together to see the project shared with its intended audience.

Self-employed
Bible-study notes for CWR, commentaries and children's fiction began my freelance journey. Latterly, copy-edits for Malcolm Down Publishing, and proofreading for Hodder Faith, Lion Hudson, BRF, Instant Apostle and CWR have comprised my workload. I have also completed copy-edits on self-publishing authors' material and students' dissertations.
