Overview

Harrison D came up in the world of small press publishing, working along the way on more than 80 published novels and memoirs, several of which have been optioned for film. An expert in manuscripts as diverse as young adult, science-fiction, fantasy, mystery, literary fiction, women's fiction, memoir, and everything in-between, Harrison is known for quite possibly the most detailed and informative editorial letters in the industry--if not the entire universe.

Harrison operates under the principle that it's not enough to tell you what isn't working. You also need to know what is working, so you know what you're doing well. And when it comes to what isn't, you need to know exactly why and, most importantly, how you can make it better.

Aside from his editing work, Harrison is the writer of 2021 indie dramedy Ape Canyon, and the author of literary horror novel The Listeners (Bancroft Press, 2012) and short stories like "Magicland" (Phantom Drift, 2018) and "The Yesterday House" (Aurealis, 2020).

I can always depend on Harrison to deliver a thorough and well reasoned assessment of my writing. He doesn't skip over anything. I sense that he's considered every aspect of my effort and comments on it with a view in mind of helping me produce the best writing of which I'm capable. Can't ask for more than that.

Michael Siegel
Harrison provided a very thorough and useful evaluation of my manuscript. Very good communication and setting of expectations. Knew the manuscript well enough to instantly refer to examples of how it could be improved. He is clearly enthusiastic about writing and wants every book to be the best it can be. Would definitely recommend.

Only downside to me was his busy calendar, which meant I had to wait some time before he was available. His editorial...

O Bod
Harrison helped me with my query letter - took what I wrote and turned it into a masterpiece. The reason I put down just 4 stars for Value is that it's too early to tell if the letter worked (it's only been a week or 2 - no bites yet). But this is the second time that I've hired Harrison, and I highly recommend him - his comments are excellent on both the micro and macro scales.
