Overview
I recently moved over to Penguin, into educational publishing, to develop a brand new series of ELT graded readers. Within that role, I acquired the educational rights for books from big-name authors including Jojo Moyes, John le Carre and James Patterson and worked with them to adapt their text for a new audience.
I love to create and shape text into something accessible and brilliant, and to collaborate with designers to bring a thoughtful and engaging visual aspect to my work. I am also a clear-headed editorial project manager, driving books forward to bring high quality content to print on time. With a deadline and a budget, I’ll do everything in my power to bring a project to life - and I’ll always aim to have fun doing it!
My partner, Guy, is a graphic designer, cartoonist and illustrator who is also available on Reedsy. We can offer design and editorial services together if a project requires it.

Work experience
Self-employed
I have recently become self-employed. I offer all kinds of editorial services - from writing and editing to coming up with new book concepts and commissioning. I took part of my last job with me - I continue to commission titles for the Penguin Readers graded reading scheme in a freelance capacity. I have just written a book for kids aged 8+ for Welbeck, and am currently developing and editing two adult non-fiction illustrated books for DK.
Ladybird Education (Penguin)
I commission new titles for and project manage a series of ELT graded readers called Penguin Readers. I consider trends, film and TV releases, and market requirements to select titles for my list, work with original authors and agents to get sign-off for inclusion in it and then oversee the development of each title from commissioning stage through to print. I communicate across the business, with sales and marketing teams, in and out of house editorial staff, and production colleagues to bring the best titles to the series.
DK
I managed the development of frontlist titles for the Licensing team at DK, working alongside high-profile licensors to create high-quality, bestselling books. I wrote and copy edited many of the books I worked on, or oversaw teams of editorial staff in those tasks. I liaised with colleagues across the business, including Production, Pre-Production and Sales and Marketing to bring books to life.
Wearset
I project managed the development of manuscripts through to printed books for a packager that specialised in educational titles. I managed around 30 titles a year. I was account manager for the publisher Nelson Thornes.
