Overview
I strive for both compassion and radical honesty in my editing projects, and I welcome pushback and discussion. I believe the best ideas come from teamwork. I'd love to help you work through everything from untangling a tough plot hole to resolving a character arc, and I'm adept at identifying patterns and structures to build a stronger narrative.
My editing strategy is built on finding the story you want to tell and figuring out how best to bring that narrative to readers. What are the prevailing emotions and themes of the work? Do you want your audience to laugh or cry or both? What kind of experience do you want to bring your readers? I'd love to work together to answer these questions and more.
An academic at heart, I will be an especially good fit for anything with intense world building. I find scholarship about fairy tales and cultural myths like King Arthur fascinating, and I love working with alternate or fantastical histories. I am also super interested in works that center a lot of science and math--I work on biology books in my day job and studied physics and math in college, so I love getting to engage with books that have an intense science component.
That said, I love all fiction and have worked professionally on works across the commercial-literary spectrum. My favorite books are those that treat the extraordinary as ordinary or the ordinary as extraordinary. No project is too weird or too niche--if you're passionate about it, I believe your readers will be too!

The Book Group
I worked with bestselling authors across genres and at all stages of manuscript development while supporting two agents at a boutique Manhattan literary agency. In particular, I gained significant experience with early-stage editing and assessing the viability of different manuscripts in the marketplace. Colleagues and clients have praised my ability to offer tough but kind feedback, and I've heard from many authors that my edits made them excited to tackle revisions, even if it meant radically reframing the work.
