Haley Weaver – Editor

Most recently an editor at Grand Central, I have nearly a decade of wide-ranging experience in both fiction and nonfiction at the Big 5s

Overview

With about 8 years of editorial experience working for two of the Big 5 publishers (Atria @ Simon & Schuster and Grand Central @ Hachette Book Group), Haley Weaver is a meticulous and passionate editor with expertise in a wide range of genres, both fiction and nonfiction. She has current insider knowledge of the considerations that acquisitions editors discuss when deciding which projects to publish, as well as years under her belt working closely with manuscripts to hone them into award-winning, bestselling, and starred-review-receiving hits.

Haley has worked on numerous New York Times bestsellers, including massively successful novels like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell, and The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. In fiction, she has primarily focused on psychological suspense, thrillers, and women's fiction, but also has worked in mystery, literary fiction, speculative fiction, and general fiction.

In nonfiction, Haley has had the honor of collaborating on books with celebrities like Billie Eilish, Amber Ruffin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hayley Mills, Robin Roberts, Mike Birbiglia, and Gaby Dunn. With experience in both practical and narrative nonfiction, she has worked on humor, memoir, health & wellness, business, self-help, biography, and essay collections. She has a particular interest in works with a social justice bent, as well as personal finance, untold histories, and LGBTQ+ stories.

In all genres, Haley is especially eager to work with writers of marginalized or traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, including disabled, BIPOC/multiethnic, minority faith, queer, polyamorous, or immigrant writers. She is an insatiable and unapologetic nerd as well as a thorough and diligent editor, and if that sounds like the right vibe for you, she would love to help you with your project, whether you are looking for a gut-check from someone with publishing insight on your work-in-progress, refining your manuscript to query agents, or looking to make sure it is polished and ready to self-publish!

I have had four books published and Haley Weaver is by far the best editor to have contributed to my work. Her hard work is readily apparent in the depth of her analysis and keen insights not only into the structure, grammar, and overall quality of my novel, but I feel Haley has helped me to improve the themes and sharpen my artistic intent.

Wow! Haley is absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond in helping me with my proposal in ways I couldn't have imagined. She has such a talent, and knows her stuff. I can already see how her suggestions and edits will not only make the proposal many times better, but also the book itself. I can't thank her enough for her help, and will definitely work with her again if I have the opportunity.

With multiple published books, I have received many editorial letters. I can honestly say that Haley's letter is among the best I've received. Thoughtful, insightful, with clear, actionable items to improve the story as well as kindness and encouragement. The care and time she put into her edit is clear and I would enthusiastically recommend and work with her again.
