Giuliano Cangiano – Designer

I am an Italian illustrator, born in Sicily and based in Milan.

I have always been passionate about stories told through pictures, and began my professional career as a cartoonist and draughtsman of political comics for magazines and newspapers.

Over the years I also studied and explored the world of animation, and with a friend of mine I started a small studio that produces commercial and informative cartoons.

I entered the world of children's books when my first grandson, Leonardo, was born and immediately fell in love with them.

I like the idea that from each word, from each dialogue, I can extract dozens of elements that will help me enrich the story and entertain my young readers.

That's what I do for you here on Reedsy when we work together: Starting from your visions and intuitions, I complete the creative process and add the visual dimension to the world you have imagined.

My approach is very versatile: I am able to adapt my style to the narrative needs and genre of the story to be illustrated.

My strength is acting and expressing characters: I like to bring them to life to make their stories and actions believable, entertaining and memorable.

I am particularly drawn to surreal stories, daring events, and musical and poetic narrative rhythms.

In my gallery you will find internal pages from the books I am working on at this time: there are character studies and full illustrations, but also some research sketches and stylistic tests.
