Evelyn Battaglia – Editor

Multi-faceted writer and editor with abundant experience in cookbook and lifestyle publishing, including 15 years at Martha Stewart Living.

Overview

Books (notably cookbooks) are my bailiwick. If you are looking for a skilled writer, editor, copy editor (heeding CMS to a T), proofreader, or strategizer, I've got the background to back you up. I helped produce numerous best-selling titles during the 15 years I worked for Martha Stewart Omnimedia, and have continued to build on my expertise as a thriving freelancer.Have an idea for a book? I can help craft a professional proposal and then pitch it to my extensive contacts. Already under contract? I can polish the text so your voice shines through, at every iteration. I've also developed and project-edited books for writers and publishers, taking an initial concept and giving it structure (often it's the organization that's the most difficult component to nail down, something I'm especially skilled at); writing and/or editing first drafts and final proofs; and collaborating with art directors on the layout and design. If inspiration and integrity are what you are looking for, I've got those qualities in spades. I'm driven by deadlines and focused on the details, but also responsive, respectful, and ready to take creative risks when they promise big rewards. When not working, you can find me hiking, kayaking, hammock-ing, biking, gardening, picnicking, bird-watching, snow-skiing, and partaking of the many cultural offerings here in the Berkshires.
