Eric Smith

Eric Smith – Editor

Eric is a literary agent and Young Adult author who has worked on award-winning and New York Times bestselling books.

Overview

Hi Reedsy!

With over a decade of experience in publishing under my belt, from working at a publishing house to my career as an agent to writing actual books, I'm a full time book person. Other hobbies would be great, but words are my jam.

I would love to help you edit or craft your book proposal, polish up that query letter, or dig into a novel you need an extra set of eyes on. I specialize in Young Adult fiction, genre-blending adult fiction, and non-fiction across the board, having worked on memoirs, cookbooks, essay collections, and more.

Please note, if you're planning to query me, it's best you not hire me on here. That blurs some complicated lines.

So, let's get to work!

Eric was a pro from start to finish. He gave his feedback early, no easy feat during the holidays, and addressed all of my questions. Everyone writer would be lucky to work with him.

Eric Smith not only completed the work in advance but pointed out something previous editors had not mentioned which is crucial to my manuscript. I also appreciated the video call where I was able to ask any questions I may have had. I highly recommend him!

The support Eric provided with my query letter was outstanding. As a new writer on my first journey with a manuscript, I felt truly understood and supported. As an autistic person, I especially appreciated how well Eric understood my neurodivergent way of thinking and how clear, direct, and thoug...

I really value Eric’s understanding of the romantic-comedy genre and the excellent feedback he gave me on the first chapter of my Novel. I definitely feel better prepared for what the next steps are to develop the plot, with stakes and goals for the four main characters, whose lives intertwine. ...

Wow, Eric was truly amazing! He gave me detailed feedback I could immediately use and included a highly informative video chat to answer the many questions I had, both about my project and the industry in general. He responded right away with a bid and to all communications and turned the project...
