Emma Tuck

Emma Tuck – Editor

Skilled, meticulous and subtle copyeditor with 20 years' experience working on non-fiction titles – education, psychology, arts/humanities.

Overview

I am an editor, copyeditor and proofreader specialising in education, psychology, philosophy and arts/humanities titles. My editing approach is friendly and collaborative – offering advice and making recommendations to help an author produce the best book possible.

According to my clients, I am knowledgeable, efficient and thorough; my communication is clear and supportive; I am respectful, patient, kind and great to work with. I have an incredible catalogue of testimonials.

I have been fascinated with words since I was a child. I studied English at the University of Leeds where I gained a First Class BA honours degree. I have been freelancing since 2006 and have a long career in publishing, spanning book publishing, local and regional newspapers, and business magazines.

Emma is a joy to work with – she is thorough, patient and endlessly resourceful in helping the final text meet its purpose.

– Professor Mick Waters, author of Thinking Allowed on Schooling and About Our Schools

I have written hundreds of papers, chapters of books and books for many publishers in my long career, and I have never encountered a copyeditor as good as Emma.

– Sir Tim Brighouse, author of About Our Schools

It is my profound hope that Emma will be the only editor I will ever work with … She is skilled, respectful, knowledgeable and talented. With Emma, the editing process is delicate, subtle and a genuine learning experience. She is a delight to work with and combines being exceptionally skilled with a keen and genuinely hilarious sense of humour.
