Emma Parkin

Emma Parkin – Editor

Ready to champion creativity in publishing, from concept development, through meticulous editorial attention, to author representation

Overview

With ten years of experience in the publishing industry, I offer a wide range of freelance skills, from developmental editing of early manuscripts to proof-reading final pages. My expertise includes art briefing, portfolio development and design direction. I also have experience in digital development as well as book-related puzzles and games. I can work on individual tasks or take on project management of books, series, lists or apps.

Based on a shared passion for words and books, I co-founded Conker House Publishing Consultancy in 2015 with my business partner, Jo de Vries. The consultancy grew from authors seeking us out for friendly, professional advice about potential publishing projects. Having worked for years in editorial and senior management roles within children’s and general trade publishing, we pride ourselves on being able to give an honest and impartial assessment, as well as a fresh perspective.

Emma has been truly excellent to work with. She was able to pick up on things that had never occurred to me. Her attention to detail is excellent and she explains her view points in detail. She made the time to respond to the queries I had after getting the feedback too. I would high recommend her and will take my next project to her.

Very efficient, on-time service rendered. Attentive to detail and professional feedback received, and most importantly, even when we try to un-prioritise it, she's reasonably affordable.
