Overview
I’ve been an editorial professional for over twenty years, and a freelancer for more than ten. My speciality is non-fiction educational content, especially within the area of modern foreign languages (language learning and translation). Many of the titles I edit have some foreign language or linguistics component and I am a speaker of French and Spanish.
Whilst not my primary area of expertise, fiction is what I read for pleasure and I welcome requests for fiction copyediting and proofreading.
I have a keen eye for detail, a sensitivity to the needs of the reader and a healthy respect for author voice. I won’t don my boots and trample all over your carefully crafted prose, but I will whip out some polish and help it shine!
I take professionalism seriously and am a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading in the UK.
Here are some lovely words from a lovely author about working with me:
"As an author, having a trusted proofreader is crucial. Emma has proofread several of my novels, and her professional and efficient service gives me absolute confidence in my manuscripts before they go for typesetting. I cannot recommend Emma highly enough and, quite frankly, wouldn’t want to work with anyone else!"
Jo Bavington-Jones, author of The Write Way to Die series
