Emily Marquart

Emily Marquart – Editor

I help indie authors publish with confidence. Open to fantasy, romance, and YA fiction. Looking forward to meeting you and your book!

Overview

I am a freelance writer and editor with more than eight years' experience in the industry. After completing a Master of Publishing at the University of Sydney, I honed my editing skills at a top Australian weekly magazine, and went on to write creative and engaging content for a wide range of print and online publications. As an editor, I have helped polish and perfect everything from academic articles to indie romance novels. Don't hesitate to get in touch to see if we'd be a good fit!

"Emily's editing of Vision of Shadows did more than just make it a far better book. I truly believe she helped make me a better writer. She helped tighten the prose, ramp up the tension and sharpen the characters. She was both friendly and professional and I completely trusted her with my story. I simply cannot recommend her enough!" - Vincent Morrone, author of Vision of Shadows

Emily was such a pleasure to work with! She was extremely responsive, especially considering the time difference (she's in Australia and I'm in the US) and she provided clear and concise feedback as well as suggestions for revisions. She helps guide you instead of giving you the solution, allowing you to grow as an author. I really enjoyed working with Emily and I hope to do so again in the fut...

I highly recommend Emily for a developmental edit. She was timely, professional, and very personable. She has an informed measure of the publishing climate and went above and beyond to guide me in choosing a title, pen name, and genre that fits with reader expectations. Her feedback was specific, actionable, clear, and encouraging. She provided a complete editorial letter and extensive in-manus...

This is my second time working with Emily, and it won't be my last. Once again she gave a great overview of what works well, how parts in my story could be tightened, and suggestions on how to strengthen everything from start to finish. Emily is professional, courteous and has a keen eye for detail. Highly recommend.
