Overview
I bring superb attention to detail and an appreciation for the big picture to your project. I know how much work has already been put into your manuscript when it reaches my hands, and I am eager to help you elevate that work to its full potential. My multifaceted publishing background ensures a deep understanding of different audiences and the nuances of the publishing process.
I worked as an in-house production editor for two years, copyediting and proofreading more than one hundred regional history books. Among my favorites were It Happens in Louisiana: Peculiar Tales, Traditions and Recipes from the Bayou and Colorado Excursions with History, Hikes and Hops. I have an additional six years of experience in acquisitions and developmental editing for a leading environmental publisher and a university press.
My freelance clients include Johns Hopkins University Press, Wise Ink Creative Publishing, Island Press, and University Press of Mississippi. I have proofread dozens of memoir, business, and self-help/how-to books in addition to copyediting books and reports on plastic pollution, higher education, energy systems, public health, and more.
I am well versed in subjects such as landscape architecture, transportation planning, regional studies, history, green building, and natural sciences. Additionally, I am passionate about public health, current events, fitness, and food systems.
I am most accustomed to following The Chicago Manual of Style and happy to follow any additional or other preferences. I usually proofread on-screen using Adobe's built-in markup functions but am happy to discuss other options if necessary.
When I'm not editing, you can find me reading fiction, on a long bike ride, or working toward a new marathon personal record.
