Overview

You finished a draft of your manuscript! Congratulations!

Finishing a story is always a thing to celebrate. But next comes the hard part: revision. You've got to figure out what the heck you wanted to write (your original vision) and what the heck you did write (your rough draft), and then you've got to decide where to go from there.

Don't worry! I can help you carve out a map!

WHO I AM

I'm a critically-acclaimed, award-winning writer of many, many books. Some of those books have my name on the spine. Other books I've worked on as a ghostwriter, including bestselling novels. All in all, I've written over 30 published novels.

I've taken on clients as a freelance editor off and on for the past decade and

helped many writers get their books into shape. I've also been hired as a writing coach and mentor. Coaching clients have called my insights honest but gentle, and our conversations empower them to do the work.

WHAT I DO

My goal is to help you reach your goal. Whether that's revising a manuscript so it's fit for querying agents, helping you restructure a stubborn story, or

working with you on the book of your heart so you can self-publish it at last,

I want to help you carve out your path.

I specialize in developmental edits (particularly narrative structure, character arcs, emotional resonance, themes, pacing, and genre/trope conventions). I do not want you to write the book MY way, but I do hope you'll rely on my years of experience in the writing industry.

My dream clients know exactly how they want their manuscripts to feel, but need my help getting there. I will always place the integrity of the story above market trends or industry demands. (I'll be honest if I think your book doesn't fit in the zeitgeist of current traditional publishing, but I want to help you reach your manuscript goals, not mine.)

Work experience

Self-employed

Jun, 2014 — Present

Procured agent through cold querying (a.k.a., the slush pile). My debut sold at a four-house auction, and since then, I've sold six more novels under my own name.

Self-employed

Jun, 2013 — Present

Provided editorial feedback for manuscripts in various stages and genres. Generally my clients have been strangers who found me online and procured my services, but I've read for multiple published writers, as well as working as a sensitivity reader for ADHD and anxiety representation.

Every beginning writer needs a professional who knows what kinds of feedback supports, inspires, and encourages us. While she pulled no punches, Lindsay's presence and feedback was the spark I needed. She provided resources, and examples of what would help me see the path I wanted to take. I am forever grateful for this divine encounter with a true professional that gets it!
