Deborah Keiser

Deborah Keiser – Editor

Through developmental editing, and substantive editing, I work with authors to take their writing from idea to publisher ready manuscript.

Overview

Publishing industry expert in editorial and marketing with 20-years experience in traditional and electronic publishing. With a long history of helping authors to write their story in either fiction or nonfiction works. I'm always mindful of the needs of the reader, and careful to consider voice, style, and features of great writing.

Editorial Experience
As an editor, I gravitate toward books that contain personal stories of lives transformed with a subtle unfolding of the truth; books that are filled with wonder and joy on subjects exploring new and better ways of living in community. As associate publisher, I launched the River North line with bestselling and award-winning authors such as Davis Bunn, Marcus Brotherton, and Tessa Afshar. My bestselling, nonfiction authors include Gary Chapman, Chris Fabry, Priscilla Shirer, and Elyse Fitzpatrick.

Award-winning Books
Titles I've worked on won notable awards in the Christian publishing market. Two books won merit awards in Christianity Today's 2023 Book Awards: Jesus and Gender and Faith in the Wilderness. Christy Award winners for fiction include Feast for Thieves and Harvest of Gold, and many were among the Christy finalists including Wedded to War. And one of titles won American Christian Fiction Writer's Carol Award: Jungle Fire (River North edition)

She took the time after her first review to discuss and give me suggestions of what was lacking in my story, which I totally agreed the story needed. She was very flexible in timeline. I was very happy with her suggestions and she has a lighthearted manner tha...

Deborah did a great job as a developmental editor with my book. I was having issues with my introduction and overall flow. Deborah was able to address my concerns, restructure my storyline, and create the flow I needed. She went above by creating chapters for me and worked with tense changes througout the book. I'm one huge step closer to publishing which is just around the corner.
