Overview
Working at Brown Books Publishing Group got me quick experience in a variety of genres. After my time on staff at Brown I completed several freelance projects for both Brown and individuals and also worked as an article editor for the academic science journal PNAS through outsourcing company PreMediaGlobal. I have edited and worked on African American fiction, action and adventure, science fiction, fantasy, and children's books (both picture books and chapter books), and I also have considerable experience editing and developing projects in the genres of self-help, business, cooking, photojournalism, true crime, travel, and religion. But my two chosen genre specialties of historic fiction and education are where I can truly bring a lot of supporting knowledge and information, because of my near-decade of experience as a high school teacher in history, mathematics, and language arts.
I have chosen not to add the bulk of my teaching experience; suffice to say I have taken a yearlong leave from teaching to stay current with my editing experience. After that I will return to teaching but I plan to continue with freelance editing. I am open to hearing about any project you have!
