Dan Alleva

Dan Alleva – Editor

Writer & Editor of Children's Middle Grade & Adult Nonfiction, Digital and Print News, Fashion/Beauty Copy, and Social Media Content

Overview

I am a writer & editor with 20+ years of experience in the publishing, journalism, entertainment, and fashion industries.

As a consulting editor for Metal Injection, I write articles about the music industry, with a focus on new releases, tour updates, reviews and previews. I support the senior editor by researching content and managing the editorial workflow in their absence.

I am also the project editor of Spooky America, the middle-grade nonfiction series from Arcadia Publishing. I commission writers to complete eight titles annually and guide them editorially from outline to completed manuscript. I provide support to the publishing director with creating data, updating publishing schedules, contracts, and weekly video conferences.

I've also written three Mad Libs published by Penguin Random House. I am a valued services provider to PRH, having additionally completed copy editing, adaptation, and research projects for them, as well as more Mad Libs titles in 2023.

Previously, I was the managing editor of The Aquarian Weekly, a regional arts and entertainment magazine. I curated the magazine's content, oversaw production of its print and web edition, created & posted all social media content, and wrote feature stories: interviews, Q&A sessions, and reviews. Past editions are featured in my gallery to offer a glimpse of my editorial style and direction.

I earned a B.S. in Marketing & Advertising from Suny—Empire State College, and I have an extensive knowledge and experience with advertising copywriting (beauty & fragrance, private collections), media planning, and third-party/agency partnerships.
