Overview
I am an editor with more than two decades experience working on books, online articles and guides. I specialise in travel and the environment, but have a wide ranging curiosity as a reader that comes in handy when checking facts, but also means that I can spot an angle that will pull your writing ahead of the pack.I can copy edit, or if you would like more feedback I can take a more developmental approach, providing feedback and suggestions that will help you stand out in a crowded market. I can make sure that your writing is interesting and a joy to read, while meeting any SEO needs.I have edited everything from encyclopedias (remember those?) and fossil identification guides, to travel guides and articles on the ethics of husky sledding, and the role of Russian nuclear-powered icebreakers in visiting the North Pole. For 10 years I worked at Lonely Planet on some of the world's best-selling and loved travel guides. I know that honest writing with personality wins readers and loyalty. As Commissioning Editor I briefed writers to create guides to cities and countries around the world, winning an award for my Paris City Guide in the British Travel Press Awards. I commissioned and wrote briefs for all Lonely Planet's London guides during the 2012 London Olympics. As Managing Editor at Lonely Planet I managed the output of the destination writer team.I currently lead and guide the Responsible Travel writer team in the continuing evolution of their travel content. If you are looking for a well-read editor with knowledge, enthusiasm and the desire to help you hone your writing then I'd love to hear from you.
