Cleo Favaretto

Cleo Favaretto – Editor

I'm a keen and accurate editor, proofreader, and translator with professional experience at Bloomsbury, Penguin Random House, and OUP.

Overview

I have over 4 years of experience working with trade publishers, including Bloomsbury, Penguin Random House, PanMacmillan, and Oxford University Press. I completed my second MA in Publishing Media at Oxford Brookes University (graduated with Distinction).

I am professionally trained in proofreading, general editing, manuscript assessment, and translation, through my in-house and freelance roles. I have worked on both mono and highly illustrated books, project managing them from manuscript to publication.

While my experience at Bloomsbury and Penguin Random House has mostly revolved around historical non-fiction, military history, cookery, crafts, and memoir books, I have a strong personal interest and expertise in other genres, including self-help and serious non-fiction, especially on the subjects of animals and the natural world. Please feel free to get in touch about your project even if it does not exactly match my portfolio.

In particular, I would be personally delighted to work on projects of fiction or non-fiction regarding LGBTQIA+ topics and multicultural subjects. I am first and foremost a passionate, sensitive, and critical reader, and I strongly believe there should be more diverse books out there. It would be an honour to put my professional editorial skills to good use to achieve this.

I am also an experienced translator from English into Italian and Italian into English.

I care about all the books I work on, and will help you make yours the best it can be.
