Claudia Dagostino – Designer

✧ Italian book designer and digital illustrator working on books about art, haute cuisine, coffee table and other non-fiction. ✧

Overview

Ciao! I’m Claudia, I love books and I love making books. This passion always leads me to take care of every little detail of each editorial project that I face. I like to really understand the author's tone of voice, the topic, the purpose of the book, the target and how the contents have been structured. I am very keen on the readability of texts and the navigability of subjects, content is king, but still having and eye for ornament and colors. I don’t like to follow trends, I prefer to base my graphic design on the contents of the book, at their service, combining structure and research, in order to obtain a funcional and timeless result.

Can't wait to know about your book project!

Work experience

University of Leicester

May, 2022 — Jul, 2022 (3 months)

On the occasion of the project "Listening to children's voices in surrogacy law" held by Dr Katherine Wade and Professor Kirsty Horsey to gather and analyze children's views on surrogacy law, funded by the Institute of Medical Ethics and Research England, I illustrated the deck of cards used during the workshops and focus groups.

Manfredi Edizioni | Maretti Editore

Apr, 2021 — Present

At the publishing house Manfredi Edizioni – Maretti Editore I mainly deal with the graphic design and layout of art catalogues and haute cuisine books, but I also design for social media, newsletters and advertising.

Dizzy Ink

Oct, 2019 — Dec, 2019 (2 months)

Dizzy ink is a risograph graphics and printing studio in Nottingham. With them I learned to use risograph printing machines, I designed illustrations for advertising, designed illustrated books and hold basic design workshops.

Self-employed

Jan, 2019 — Present

I am also a digital illustrator. I’ve worked for newsletters, academic research projects, websites, indipendent and online magazines. Mine is a flexible style, adaptable to different audiences. I like to use few well-matched colors and pay close attention to shapes and composition.
