Claire Taylor-Jay – Editor

I've been editing and proofreading for about five years after a career change from working in higher education. I love making a text the best it can be - my job is to be invisible to your readers! I believe that if a reader is 'tripping up' in their reading, then the text hasn't been edited well enough.

I work with a variety of publishers as well as independent writers. I get really positive feedback from my clients:

I offer line editing, copyediting and proofreading, and occasionally other services. I'm near-fluent in German, have a good level of French, a smattering of Italian and Spanish, and very basic Sanskrit and Pali.

I specialise in music (and musicology), the arts and history in particular, and I have a personal interest in Buddhism and meditation. I've edited subjects as diverse as Jewish Studies, film studies, literature, geography, law and art history.
