Overview
I love working one-on-one with authors to transform their manuscripts, help them fulfill their visions, and get their books into readers' hands. No matter what level of editing you need, I aim for a perfect, polished piece every time.
I've spent much of my fifteen-plus-year career working with traditionally published and self-published authors. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with Big Four editors, designers, agents, publicists, and marketers, as well as with many New York Times bestselling authors who've been featured on the TODAY show and in the New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, ELLE, and Publishers Weekly, to name a few.
As a professional editor, I’ll work closely with you to identify issues, resolve problem areas, clarify intended meanings, improve style, maintain your unique voice, and ensure your message or story gets across clearly to your target audience. I know when to follow all the rules—and when it's appropriate to bend them. I also enjoy teaching authors how to write better by explaining edits and answering questions, setting them up for success in all their writing endeavors.
With my work background, my proficiency in Chicago and other styles, and my attention to detail, you can be sure your book will meet professional industry standards—and, just as important, your readers' high standards.
I love editing books of many genres, but I have a special interest in nonfiction, particularly health and wellness. I grew up in a family with many health-care professionals and enjoy living an active, healthy lifestyle. As a full-time medical editor, I am also interested in the sciences and keep up with the latest research.
Although my job is to help guide you through the editing process, I intentionally collaborate with authors whose books will teach me something new, reveal an interesting perspective, and make a positive impact on readers.
I spend much of my free time cooking, baking bread, running, watching a good movie or TV show with my husband, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, drinking coffee and tea, and, of course, reading—usually thrillers, Southern literature, and British literature (my favorite fiction genres/subgenres to edit).
Due to a very high volume of requests, I will do my best to respond within 24–48 hours.
Please note that I do not perform developmental editing for fiction. I also do not edit yogi or mystic memoirs; your manuscript would be better suited for an editor who specializes in those areas.
