Overview
Hi, beautiful souls.
I'm Christian: an Italian graphic designer, illustrator, and cover artist with nearly a decade of experience across publishing, visual arts, fashion, and editorial design.
For me, a cover is never just an image. It is a threshold — an atmosphere — the visual memory a reader forms before the book even opens.
I have designed covers and visual projects for books published by Mondadori and Poliniani, and refined my approach through dedicated training with Feltrinelli. My background spans Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Art Direction for Fashion at Central Saint Martins, and Art Didactics, in which I recently completed a Master's degree with honours.
I'm currently a PhD candidate in artistic research. My doctoral project investigates memory, material transformation, digital preservation, 3D printing, and digital twins — exploring how physical and virtual traces survive, decay, or disappear over time. This research is not separate from my work as a cover designer: it shapes the way I think about books, images, textures, time, and emotional residue.
As an illustrator and designer, I work fluently between digital and traditional media, combining painting, drawing, typography, photography, scans, textures, and experimental processes. I can create highly rendered illustrations when a project calls for complexity, but I'm just as interested in restraint, negative space, typography, and quiet visual tension.
I'm especially drawn to fiction, poetry, memoir, fashion, humanities, mental health, queer narratives, and intimate stories of personal transformation. I listen carefully to what each book needs to say — and to how loudly, softly, or silently it needs to say it.
I'm also the co-founder of Queer Mushroom Forest, a project centred on trans, non-binary, and queer health, culture, and community. Sensitivity, representation, and care are not decorative values in my practice: they are part of the design process itself.
When we work together, I'll help you understand what is genuinely achievable within your budget, deadline, format, and publishing goals — whether your book needs a complex illustrated world, a refined typographic solution, or something deceptively simple and quietly unforgettable.
A strong cover does not always need to shout. Sometimes the most powerful design is the one that knows exactly what to whisper — and when to stop.
