Chad Lewine – Web Developer

Next-gen, AI-assisted author websites. No templates, no page builders. Custom-coded, delivered in days, still affordable.

Overview

Congrats on your book! Whether it's your first or your tenth, I look forward to helping you showcase and sell it. Books and reading matter more than ever, and I'm passionate about doing my part to support the authors who keep that alive.

✦ ═════════════════════════════════ ✦

NOTE: I only take on 3 projects per month so I can give each one the attention it deserves.

✦ ═════════════════════════════════ ✦

Your website shouldn't look like every other author's website, and it won't, because I don't use templates.

I'm Chad L, a human-led, AI-assisted web designer. What that means in plain English is that I direct advanced AI tools to build your website from scratch, completely custom to you. No page builders, no drag-and-drop, no theme you share with 1,000 other authors.

--- WHY ME ---

My very first client was a local author. It was 2002. I was 12 years old and I charged $75. Over two decades later, I've built for 250+ clients, including dozens of authors across every genre right here on Reedsy, where I have 32 five-star reviews.

As a solopreneur myself, I relate to the one-person operation you're likely running, and I treat your project like it's my own. I'm fully transparent, highly communicative, and direct. No boilerplate responses, no beating around the bush, and no promises without all the info.

--- WHAT AI-ASSISTED MEANS FOR YOU ---

A custom website that used to take 2-4 weeks can now be delivered in days. You get custom-built quality at a fraction of the old agency cost because AI handles the heavy lifting while I make every design and strategy decision. You own everything when it's done. No subscriptions, no vendor lock-in, no monthly ransom to keep your site alive.

--- ONE QUESTION THAT SHAPES EVERYTHING ---

Do you actually need to edit the site yourself? Most authors who think they need full control over their website never end up touching it themselves.

If your updates are occasional, I handle that for you as part of an affordable maintenance plan.

If you genuinely need to be in the site daily or weekly managing content hands-on, we can absolutely build for that, it just changes the process and the investment slightly. This is one of the first things we talk about on our call.

--- WHAT I DON'T DO ---

• Squarespace, Wix, Divi, Elementor, or any other web-based site builders

• Graphic (cover) design (happy to refer you to someone great)

• Social media community management

If any of those are what you're after, no hard feelings, but I'm probably not your guy.

--- HOW IT WORKS ---

Book a free 20-minute call and we'll talk about your vision, your books, and your audience. I'll tell you honestly what you need and what you don't, and if we're a fit, I build fast. I always reply within 24 working hours.

Let's give your book the digital home it deserves. Send me your brief today!

Looking forward to meeting you,

Chad

This is a simple and clean website for a Reedsy author's book. The website was designed to showcase the book, offer information about the author and organization's leaders, and ecommerce functionality to sell the book directly from the website. This site uses WooCommerce and WordPress. This is an example of a "simple" design.

Kaila Nike (Reedsy Author)

One-page WordPress website for a new author. It introduces the book, its characters, has an About The Author section, a contact form and a subscribe form that integrates with MailerLite. Completed October 2024. For authors requesting an offer from me, this is an example of a "simple" site.

Frank Joseph (Reedsy Author)

This site was completed for a Reedsy author in Summer 2024. For authors requesting an offer from me, this is an example of a "fancy" site. (There are animations on the website itself.)

What are the most common mistakes authors make when self-publishing?

Common mistakes: Unrealistic or distorted view of public interest (Harsh, I know.) Family and friends aren't fans--neither are paid reviews. It is important to be as objective as possible when assessing your book's popularity. I say this because many indie and early-stage authors believe they n...

What tools do you recommend for authors to capture and nurture leads on their websites?

It's imperative to have, at the very least, a simple email subscribe form. You don't need an elaborate email marketing plan, just start collection. E-mail is still the most effective at reaching your total audience because it's direct connection, unlike social media which is unreliable and errati...
