I am a journalist turned sub editor turned copy editor and proofreader, with 20+ years of experience. I've been in book editing for about six years, in which time I've worked on sci fi erotica, Regency Romance, chick lit, police dramas, transgender murder mysteries and even one where the heroine was a food fetishist. My particular speciality is helping writers create realistic British-sounding characters and helping turn fanfiction into original works.

I started as a trainee reporter (NCTJ trained), then progressed to become a sub editor taking responsibility for news, features and sport at a number of weekly papers. I was eventually transferred to work for the local daily paper producing five editions a day, before being made redundant in 2014.
