Does your story require fantastical and colorful illustrations to guide the reader through your story? Do you want an exciting cover to grab the attention of a busy middle grader in the library or book store shelves amongst the other books? Then look no further!
I am an illustrator and graphic artist currently residing in Jackson, Michigan with my librarian husband, and calico cat, Iris. After graduating from Kendall College of Art and Design with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in 2008, I launched my career by successfully helping authors bring their stories to life through my art for more than 10 years.
One of the picture books I illustrated, Hooray for Helium by Blake Washington, won a gold Mom's Choice Award. Besides illustrating the children's books, I have experience formatting the books with typography and prepare the files for print production. Moreover, throughout the project, communication is very important for me to create the artwork that represents the client's story. Weekly updates are sent to the client detailing the progress of their project. For illustrating a book cover, it usually takes me 3 weeks to complete and for illustrating a 32-page picture book, it takes me about 6 months. Upon receiving a brief description of the client's project, I initially research to create the character designs. After the character designs are approved, I begin to create 2 to 3 black and white sketches of the book cover or interior pages. Once the sketch is finalized and approved by the client, the final colored cover or interior page is rendered.
It is very important for me to give my clients a wonderful experience during their projects. My past experience focuses on children's picture books; however, my future endeavors aim for illustrating Middle-Grade chapter books and YA Fantasy covers. Being a professional, energetic, and creative illustrator, I look forward to collaborating with you on your book project!
