Ben Grange

Ben Grange – Editor

Literary agent of bestselling and award-winning books such as the 2025 Printz Award-winner BROWNSTONE. Available for coaching and queries.

Overview

Hi! I’m Ben, a 13-year veteran of the book publishing industry, and I want to help you write amazing books.

I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in fiction, including Dean Koontz, Debbie Macomber, Nicholas Sparks, Brandon Sanderson, and more. As an agent, I also represented some amazing books, including LUX by Steven Michael Bohls in collaboration with Brandon Sanderson, as well as the 2025 Printz Award-winner BROWNSTONE by Samuel Teer.

I’ve worn many hats in my career, including:

- Publisher’s Assistant

- Marketing Manager

- Agency Assistant

- Senior Literary Agent

- Literary Agent Experience Manager

- Sci-Fi/Fantasy and YA Editor

I’m now a freelance editor, focused on working with writers to revise their query letters, develop compelling and engaging stories, and understand the business of book publishing.

Working with me, you can expect direct and applicable feedback that will help you improve your work, with an eye on both the fine details and the big picture.

I bring my range of experience across the book publishing industry to every project. My approach to query letter consultations is to help you understand the nature of business proposals and how to get an agent’s attention. And my philosophy on story development focuses on character growth, setting details, and plot structure, with an eye for pacing. With every project, my goal is to help you learn to identify what you're doing well (and why it works), and give you the tools to fix what needs improving.

So, let's get to work!
