Overview
I'm a copy editor and proofreader with 20 years of experience working with online articles, trade and performing arts books, and B2B industry reports. It's pretty satisfying getting the words to say exactly what the author means. I wrote a few books myself, but find I greatly prefer the editing side of things.
If I do my job right, it's invisible. I only want to clean up an author's work, not impose myself over it. Some grammar rules are written in stone, but many aren't, and if a client prefers a copy choice one way then sure, things can fall that way. I'm also very happy to stay in my lane--if all I'm supposed to do is proofread, I won't change sentences around, no matter what the effect.
I'm also a musician, painter, and photographer, and have fostered over 30 rescue dogs, which I'm pretty proud of.
