Ariel Curry

Ariel Curry – Editor

Development and acquisitions editor with 10 years' experience in nonfiction publishing working with bestselling authors.

Overview

Ariel is a ghostwriter, bestselling editor, and book coach. She spent 10 years working in traditional publishing, most of that time as an acquisitions editor. Several of the books she edited and published have achieved Amazon bestseller status and have been bestsellers for the publisher. Some of her more notable clients include supermodel Genevieve Morton, winner of the TED $1 Million Prize for Research Sugata Mitra, education researcher John Hattie, Home Improvement writer and producer Matt Williams, and NYT bestselling author Warren Berger.

Ariel specializes in memoir and self-help/personal growth. As an editor, she enjoys brainstorming and outlining new book ideas, bringing clarity and purpose to prose, and helping authors find resilience in their writing journey. Her favorite projects are those that tell a story of transformation—either the author’s transformation through an event or situation in their life, or the reader’s transformation in overcoming a problem. She loves working with authors who challenge the status quo and can shine light in the dark spaces of our world with powerful stories.

When she’s not working, you can find Ariel doing yoga, practicing Chopin on the piano, or reading with a cup of tea. Originally from California, she now lives in Chattanooga, TN, with her husband and a growing menagerie of pets.

"Ariel is one of the best editors I've worked with - smart, patient, thoughtful, with great attention to detail as well as a great marketing sense about the book we worked on. She was a strong guiding force throughout the entire publishing process." - Warren Berger, NY Times bestselling author of A MORE BEAUTIFUL QUESTION

“Ariel has a unique gift. She can take your dreams and passions and coach you towards the reality of writing a quality piece of work." - Superintendent Mark Gotcher

Five Stars are not enough to measure the value of Ariel's coaching on my work. I can recommend her with no reservation. Her responses were immediate and concise. Her review was completed just ahead of my requested deadline (about 4 or 5 weeks from start to finish, as I recall). When needed, her reviews went into good depth and salient criticism. It was definitely clear she had read my work...
