Overview
My name's Andy (he/they).
I help fiction authors solve their storytelling problems and polish their writing at sentence level.
I'm queer and am passionate about LGBTQ+ representation in fiction. Fantasy fiction and queer romance is my jam!
If you’re looking for someone who combines insights and the rigor of a former research career in cultural anthropology with the flexible approach that fiction editing requires, then read on.
My approach is author-centered – I’m curious about your writing context and how your writing fits into your life and personal goals. I am sensitive to publishing traditions beyond Anglo-American publishing. I love building relationships with authors across languages and cultures. I call this approach Editing Otherwise.
I’ve edited for a variety of top fiction publishers and for authors directly, too. I currently copyedit YA fiction for HarperCollins (Harper Fire imprint) and Penguin Random House (Viking, Philomel, and Putnam imprints), and have previously worked as an YA fiction authenticity reader for St. Martin's Press.
